Client safety & well-being

At Obsidian Homecare Services, safeguarding our clients' health, safety, and well-being is a priority. We employ a variety of practices designed to minimize risks and ensure that our clients receive care that meets their personal needs while maintaining their dignity. Our approach to safeguarding includes:

Thorough risk assessments

Each client undergoes a detailed risk assessment before the commencement of services. This assessment identifies any potential risks related to their health, mobility, or living environment, enabling us to create a comprehensive and tailored care plan.

Health & safety training

Our staff are trained on how to identify and prevent any situations that could pose a risk to the client, including fall prevention techniques and how to respond to emergencies such as sudden medical episodes.

Regular monitoring & review

We regularly assess the client's condition and home environment to ensure that risks are being managed effectively. Care plans are updated to reflect changes in a client’s health status.

24/7 emergency support

Clients and their families can access emergency support services at any time. Our carers are available around the clock, and in the event of an emergency, immediate action is taken to ensure the client's safety.

Promoting Client Rights

At Obsidian Homecare Services, we believe in empowering individuals by ensuring they retain control over their lives and care. Every client has the right to:

Participate in decision-making

We encourage our clients to be active participants in their own care. Whether it’s choosing how they want their personal care carried out or deciding on the type of services they receive, we ensure that clients are fully involved in decisions that affect them.

Access to services & financial support

While our services are not publicly funded, we believe in providing care that is accessible to all individuals. Clients are responsible for the costs of their care, but we support them in navigating available financial assistance options. Government funding, tax relief programs, and other financial supports may be available to help offset the costs of homecare. Our team can guide clients through these options to ensure they receive the financial assistance they are entitled to, making our services as accessible as possible.

Privacy & dignity

We respect our clients' right to privacy. All personal, medical, and financial information is handled in accordance with GDPR, ensuring confidentiality and security.

Freedom from abuse

We adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for abuse. Our carers are trained to recognise signs of abuse, including physical, emotional, and financial abuse, and are instructed to report any concerns immediately.

Safeguarding policies

Our safeguarding policies are designed to protect vulnerable individuals from any form of abuse. These policies are aligned with the Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse National Policy (2014), which provides clear guidelines for protecting adults at risk. These measures include:

  • Staff training on safeguarding

Every carer undergoes mandatory safeguarding training, which includes recognising signs of abuse, preventing neglect, and reporting concerns.

  • Transparent reporting systems

We have a clear and confidential reporting system that allows carers, clients, or families to report any concerns. We take all reports seriously and follow up with appropriate investigations and actions.
